The Music Faculty are inviting instrumentalists with skills in the following areas to apply for a scholarship: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion. All instrumentalists are required to have completed at least Grade 5 AMEB or equivalent, and ideally have the ensemble experience and skills to participate in the instrumental program.
Academic Scholarships are offered for entry at Year 5, 7 and 11 in 2026. Scholarships offer discounts on tuition fees of 50% and 60%. Scholarships are granted for the duration of the student’s education and are subject to the maintenance of excellent academic performance levels as well as contributing to the life of the School. Students may hold only one scholarship at a time.
A student who holds a scholarship from a previous entry is eligible to sit for a higher value scholarship when they reach the appropriate year. If they are then awarded the higher value scholarship they forfeit the previous one.
Academic Scholarship tests are conducted by Edutest, an independent assessor. All applicants are required to sit this scholarship test and some will be invited to attend a subsequent formal interview. The testing will take place on Saturday 1 March 2025 (if your child is not able to sit the scholarship examination on this date, please make contact with Mrs Emma Griffiths, Enrolments Assistant at enrolment@hutchins.tas.edu.au to discuss).
